Should I wait for my ex to finish his Master's degree?

Hey guys!! I have a question. I have been talking to my ex and we are planning on being back together but we have a problem. He still has one year of Master studies and I'm finishing mine right now. We have been in a long process of being on and off 2 years ago when we broke up the last time. We figured we still wanted to be together, but now we are in different cities, so I'm pretty tired of the circumstances never working out in the way I want them to. We have been talking everyday and it's pretty cool, I really feel he is the one, but I dont know if I should be emotionally attached to him again after so much that we have been through and since I'm in another city and he doesnt really want to interfere in my decisions after my Master's. Relationships shouldnt be this complicated. :s... and this may sound prideful but I dont think I should be the one waiting for him, it should be viceversa ;). Specially after everything that we went through before (very painful btw) So I dont know.. I'm confused. Suggestions?
